The Importance of CVOR Training

Jerit Justin • June 22, 2021

CVOR Training stands for Commercial Vehicle for Operators training and it is an essential course for anyone looking to make a career for themselves in the trucking industry. Carriers and trucking companies are required by the Ministry of Transportation to ensure that all of their drivers have the necessary training under the Highway Traffic Act in relation to:

  • The safe operation of a commercial vehicle
  • Hours of operation training
  • Log book training
  • Conducting daily vehicle inspections and making reports.

What does CVOR driver training include?

CVOR training gives drivers the foundation they need to meet the requirements of a commercial truck driver. This includes knowing their reporting responsibilities as well as how to submit their reports to their carrier.

At Trukademy, our CVOR courses are all conducted by fully trained and instructors to ensure that our students receive the highest level training.

CVOR training will help to ensure that all of your drivers have up to date training on the latest Ministry requirements thereby reducing the chances of a violation occurring within your company. It helps to keep your company’s safety record in good order and helps you to avoid potential fines for non-compliance.

Ensuring that your drivers have the necessary CVOR training is not only a legal requirement for carriers but it can also provide legal protection for your company. In a CVOR Audit or in court proceedings determining whether drivers have the proper CVOR training is part of due diligence.

At Trukademy, our CVOR training includes:

  • Pre-trip vehicle inspection
  • Hours of service
  • Transporting dangerous goods
  • Defensive driving
