If you are considering a new career that provides you a high degree of job security, trucking may be right for you.

In Canada, trucking is a $55billion industry that employs more than 300,000 registered drivers, and yet research indicates that the industry requires an additional 31,000 drivers to meet current demand.

Manufacturers and merchandisers of all kinds rely on trucks for the pick-up and delivery of all goods. Why? Because no other form of transportation can deliver goods door to door. Goods carried by any other method of transportation—airplane, train or ship—must rely on trucks to reach their final destination. Trucks continue to be the lifeblood of North America’s economy and provide the infrastructure for the massive distribution system that supports our quality of life.
By 2020, the North American freight transportation industry will carry 18.8billion tons of freight, generating $1.3trillion in revenue. This represents a 70 percent increase over 2008 revenues. In short, trucking remains a high in-demand profession that provides steady employment even during economic downturns in our economy.
