MELT stands for Mandatory Entry Level Training, and it is a program that is required by the provincial government in order to obtain your commercial trucking license.
If you are looking to obtain your class A (tractor trailer) licence in Ontario, you must complete at least 103.5 hours of classroom training and in-vehicle training.
During the MELT program, trainees receive 36.5 hours of classroom time, 17 hours training in the yard, 32 hours on-road as well as 18 hours off-road and behind the wheel.
